Narratives: Destination Christmas

This series is based on a module called 'Constructing Narratives'. The brief was to create a series of images developed from an e-mailed we had recently received. This project is based on an e-mail received from Marks & Spencer advertising the perfect family Christmas. I became intrigued about family routines, especially at Christmas. It then developed into an observational documentation of product advertisement and consumerism, eventually looking at extravagant shop window displays that were selling 'essential' items to achieve a 'perfect' family Christmas. These images show the high end of the glamour, decadence and power that shop windows have in two of London's finest stores, Selfridges, and Harrods.
